We had a good trade show this year. Always someone who hasn't seen the ball valve with a freeze plug. An ex-employee from years ago brought his boss over to see my product. The owner of Colorado Sprinkler Service was impressed with it and will be carrying the freeze tolerant ball valves in his service trucks and his new retail store at 1180 S. Pierce st in Lakewood , CO. I can tell he is customer service orientated. Anyone who gives a 5 year warranty on new systems (including freeze damage), does care about having the customer have a great experience.
We had a lot of orders from Texas in Feb. I talked to one person and he says they leave their sprinkler systems on all year there. When a cold front comes in, then they shut the ball valves and drain the back flow device. Unfortunately, that's when a ball ball cracks- when they are in closed position-full of water.
Blue Heron introduced his new lead free PVB back flow device. It is basically a Febco 765-1 replica that has its own style of bonnet & popit assembly, a third drain and freeze tolerant ball valves with his own style of plastic freeze plugs.
We will keep you posted on how contractors like it in the season to come.
